About Herb Baker
Welcome!
My name is Herb Baker. I grew up a few miles from the Manned Spacecraft Center (now the Johnson Space Center), had a temporary job with the News Media covering 4 Apollo lunar landing missions as a teenager, and later had a 40+ year career working for NASA. During my career, I supported the Space Shuttle Program, International Space Station (ISS) Program, Orion Program, and the Flight Operations organization, including the Astronaut Office, Aircraft Operations, and Mission Control Center.
Since retiring from NASA in 2017, I have remained involved with NASA as a member of the NASA Alumni League (I’m now an Officer on its Board of Directors). I also volunteer with nonprofit organizations like the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, Space Center Houston, Girlstart, and the Remembering Columbia Museum.
